What makes certain foods more compelling than others? - The stories behind food: stories of restaurant owners, chefs, and the human narratives around ambition, risk, and creativity - Discipline around food in both senses of the word: discipline as it relates to the technical aspect of cooking a craft and being disciplined to eat less/more when cutting/bulking than you're used to informed by my experience with lifting - Cultural expression through food: I love learning about cuisines from around the world. Interesting that immigrants hold on to food habits for much longer than they do language. - I enjoy cooking, iterating on recipes, and improving technique without centering on cooking itself as a main hobby. I think about food (watching, reading, reflecting, and learning through observation) more than I make it myself. Granted, I don't cook that often since I meal prep, so if I cook twice, I'm good for the week. - Cooking as an act of service and love language. Serving food brings others joy. ## Related [[3.
